How to Update an Multiprotocol module in a Transmitter

These instruction show you how to update a Radiomaster TX16s or Radiomaster Boxer Multiprotocol Module.
These instruction will also work for an external module inserted in the module bay on the back of the Transmitter.

The Multiprotocol Module firmware is available on the Multiprotocol web site through the download page, “https://downloads.multi-module.org/

To check which version you have on your radio switch it on and ensure the module is active in the current model, press the SYS button, select the (TX16s) Information icon , top right, or (Boxer) press the Page button five times to get to the Version screen, select “Modules / RX Version” at the bottom of the screen, the module versions will be displayed.

Get the latest Multiprotocol Firmware

  • Go to the Multiprotocol website download page, https://downloads.multi-module.org/
  • In the Multi Module Selection drop down list select you Transmitter, “Radiomaster TX16s Internal Module (4in1)” or “Radiomaster Boxer (4in1)
  • Leave the File Filters as they are.

A list of module firmware will be display at the bottom of the screen.
For each Mode (RETA, TEAR, AETR) there will be three firmware option:

  • lbt – this firmware is the legal firmware used in the UK and EU
  • air – This is the International version of the firmware which is also used for legacy recievers
  • sfc – This firmware is used for non flight models, boats, cars, etc

Select the lbt version for your preferred Mode, I prefer RETA.

  • RETA – mm-stm-serial-reta-lbt-v1.3.4.31.bin
  • TAER – mm-stm-serial-taer-lbt-v1.3.4.31.bin
  • AETR – mm-stm-serial-aetr-lbt-v1.3.4.31.bin
  • Copy the Multiprotocol Module Firmware to the Firmware folder on your PC, ““…/Documents/EdgeTX/SdcardStructure/FIRMWARE
  • Copy the Multiprotocol Module Firmware to the “/FIRMWARE” directory on the Transmitter SD card.

Update the Transmitter Multiprotocol Module 

  • Power on the Radio.
  • Press the SYS button and select the (TX16s) Sdcard icon, second along the top of the screen, or (Boxer) press the Page button once.
  • Scroll down to Firmware then press the Scroll wheel.
  • Scroll down to the multiprotocol firmware, “mm-stm-serial-reta-lbt-v1.3.4.31.bin” and press the Scroll wheel again.
  • Select “Flash Internal Multi” and press the Scroll wheel again.

If you have an external Multiprotocol Module select its firmware then select “Flash External Multi” and press the Scroll wheel again.

  • After a short while “Flash successful” will appear.
  • Press the back button twice to return to the Model Screen.

After updating the Multiprotocol Module firmware you might have to rebind all receivers.
